While texting was the primary way that Brendon and Lacie contacted one another, whenever he was able to Facetime or Skype his girlfriend he took it. He liked being able to see her face and actually hear her voice, even if by now he felt like he'd gotten her intonations down fairly well through text, it just wasn't the same. So when she'd given the go ahead for him to Facetime her he immediately went ahead and pressed the video button to start the call, noticing in the camera that he was still a bit disheveled as he was in bed and hadn't been up to brush his hair or anything. Well, it wasn't like she could smell his breath and though he ran a hand through his hair to put a little bit of order to it, he knew it wasn't going to be doing any miracles. As soon as Lacie's face filled the screen though his own appearance was far out of his mind and hers was front and center. As always she looked great and he gave her a grin in greeting. "Well, you look like a right beauty this morning," he complimented easily. "Should I be concerned about your plans for the day?"

Lacie would never have imagined herself to be in a long distance relationship, but then, she would never have expected to grow to like Brendon quite as much as she did. As it was, she was unwilling to admit to anyone just how much she did like him, maybe because she was still a little unsure of where it was all going. He said he knew she wouldn't be moving to England, and she had told him she didn't want to date just for the sake of dating, but could he really just uproot his entire life and move to the States? After all, ever since they had started being closer to one another, they'd spent a total of what, four weeks in one another's presence? Did all the texting and chatting constitute enough to strengthen their relationship to the point where he would be willing to change countries? There were times when she couldn't help but wonder at all of those things and feel a little afraid of how strong her feelings for him were growing. This morning though, she didn't want to be thinking about this, because even though they tried to FaceTime as often as possible since it was that much better than just texting, it wasn't that frequent that they had time to do so now that he was roaming Australia and exchanging labor for places to stay. A fluttery sensation filled her stomach as she answered his call and his face came onto the screen with that easy grin of his, shaking her head a bit though as he started off by questioning if he should be concerned about her plans for the day. "There are very normal clothes," she informed him.

Things with Lacie were very easy for Brendon and it was one of the things that had drawn him to her. Despite her personality being so different from his own, it didn't matter because talking to her just happened as naturally as breathing. There was a draw to her, one that he couldn't explain or try to analyze. It just was what it was and he'd followed it, finding that it brought him a lot of happiness to do so. Seeing her right now, even through a screen made him happier than it made sense to but logic was nothing that he'd ever concerned himself with. "Guess it's just you then," he sighed dramatically, looking away and shaking his head before he turned back to her. A smile couldn't be stopped from playing around his lips. He was a naturally cheerful person to begin with and talking with Lacie, getting to hear her voice and see her face, well that always put him in an even better mood - one that made it hard to keep a smile at bay if he tried. "God help everyone who has to hear that you already have a boyfriend. You'll break all their hearts."

One thing Lacie had learned over time was that Brendon was definitely not a stingy person when it came to giving compliments. Something that had taken her a bit more time to learn was that he did actually mean them though, even if they were said in a manner that was more playful than earnest. That didn't stop her from looking at him in a slightly unimpressed manner at his display of dramatics, somehow finding it hard to show that she actually did find him amusing and endearing at times. She wasn't sure why that was. There was something about being in a vulnerable position that just didn't cut it for her, and since he'd not complained about her responses to his joking around thus far, she figured he was likely fine with it. "Yes, I'm sure that all the boys I grew up with, who never made any pretense of asking me out when I was single, will not be totally heart broken by learning I'm no longer on the market," she spoke in a dry manner, shaking her head a bit.

Brendon and Lacie were quite different as individuals, there was no denying it but they managed to work despite those differences so the fact that his girlfriend did not immediately look impressed with his joke was no cause for concern for Brendon. If she really didn't like the way that he acted she could have very easily chosen not to be involved with him - yet, there she was dating him on purpose and he had no reason to tone down any of his antics. "You know what they say, people want what they can't have," he pointed out as she tried to argue that no one would be heartbroken now that she was off the market. "Plus, clearly you're wrong about no one asking you out before." Briefly he thought back to Jayden and how much stress not knowing what that relationship was like had caused him. For a moment his expression showed that unhappiness but he banished it away easily. "You could be just telling me this to make me feel better." Not that that was Lacie's M.O. in the slightest but nothing about what he was saying was meant to be taken seriously so it shouldn't have come as a surprise now.

There was something unusual about the look on Brendon's face as he brought up that she was clearly wrong about nobody asking her out before, figuring he must be referring to Jayden as that was the only guy - other than him - whom she'd briefly dated in the past year. She couldn't even really pinpoint it, other than the fact that he didn't seem quite so playful as he mentioned it, but she brushed it off easily enough - the idea that he would be upset about the thought of her going on literally two dates with another guy was ridiculous. "Sure I am," she said with a roll of her eyes as he said how she might just be trying to make him feel better right now. "I mean, I guess I did forget to mention the line of suitors waiting for me outside my door every morning," she went on sarcastically. Honestly, he was the one who'd been involved with more girls than she was even aware of. She didn't mind, it was just a fact, and honestly she felt it was better not to get an exact number either. She already sometimes felt a bit lacking in experience.

Brendon planned on holding his ground even when Lacie rolled her eyes and responded in a way that clearly said that she did not agree with him in the slightest. Just because only one guy had approached her did not make Brendon think that there hadn't been anymore interested, it was just possible that they were a bit intimidated b his girlfriend's less than welcoming personality. "I knew they had to gather somewhere," he went on as if she hadn't been sarcastic. "Like Jayden was the president of the club that just managed to get the courage to make a move and the rest are just hanging back out of respect for the moment but soon enough they'll be crawling out of the woodwork. Then you'll come here to Australia and all the surfers will be smitten with your looks and skills." He gave a sigh as if this was something that he'd already accepted as the reality that was going to take place. "Then there will be a duel but a surfing duel and I'll be woefully underprepared and maybe I'll have to fight a shark. Lace, I don't know that I can fight a shark for you."

When Brendon went off in the way he was doing right now, Lacie had learned that it was generally better to just let him finish, because there was really no point in trying to interrupt him. He'd just jump right back into it at the first chance he had. Giving him a bit of a look as he kept going about Jayden before mentioning how all the surfers in Australia would be smitten by her. Part of her did wonder how he even came up with all the ridiculous things he said at times, pressing her face into her hand as he said something about fighting a shark. "Brendon, I'm this close to turning off my phone right now," she warned him, holding up her thumb and forefinger in a position where they were nearly touching. "But if you want to go down that road, sure, why don't we talk about how many girls you've dated," she challenged, because the number was far higher than her own and they both knew it. Not that she really cared, nor did she actually want to talk about it, but she was hopeful it'd get him to stop talking about crowds of guys being all over her.

The threat that Lacie was close to turning off her phone was not something that Brendon was unfamiliar with - often his girlfriend would tell him that she was very close to ending a call with him. She didn't really do it so he didn't worry about it now either. For how often she claimed to be over his antics very rare were the times when she acted on that. Hearing her mention the girls that he dated he shook his head. "Not the same at all," he argued, not because he had any shame about his past dating history. For he hadn't been involved with Lacie at that time and there was no reason for him to be worried about what she thought about his ex girlfriends - or ex one night stands as the case might be. "No one I was ever involved in was as beautiful as you are." He spoke it as the plain fact that it was, the thing that he'd said again and again when people pointed out that he was dating Nicole while Lacie was involved with Jayden - Nicole wasn't better looking than Lacie and that was just the truth of the matter in his eyes.

Lacie raised an eyebrow slightly as Brendon stated that the girls he'd been involved with were not the same as her basically non existent dating history, because that not only seemed illogical, it also seemed a little hypocritical, and that wasn't a side of his that she was totally familiar with. Granted, it wasn't that he really acted jealous about the couple of dates she'd gone on with Jayden, but he did frequently bring up this inaccurate idea that she had a lot more options out there than she did, as though it was impossible that there might not be that many guys around who wanted to date her in the first place. Snorting as she heard him say that he'd never been involved with anyone as beautiful as she was, shaking her head a bit. "So the only factor that matters in the comparative of our dating histories is physical appearance?" she questioned.

Sometimes it seemed that Brendon did not get the message across that was in mind - especially when it came to Lacie. He didn't know if there was anything to be done about it though except try to explain what he was actually trying to say when questioned about it. In this instance it was clear that Lacie was unimpressed with his comment about her beauty from the snort and the response that he got. "Well that's a turn of phrase," he said, not buying into it for a moment. There were too many ways to get trapped into words he didn't mean if he let himself. "Of course you are just better in general but that's not the point right now." Truthfully, he didn't know much about Jayden's personality besides the fact that online he came across as a total kiss up who apparently followed curfews very strictly. It was a good thing that he hadn't had to meet him in person because he was certain that he wouldn't have been able to stop himself from being thoroughly unimpressed in person as much as he was online from half of a world away.

There were times when Lacie wondered exactly what Brendon thought was going on in her life back in Hawaii. He'd never really struck her as an insecure kind of guy, but maybe that was something that a long distance relationship was bringing out in him. That certainly was the only explanation she could find about these repeated conversations. Of course, they were never serious, because he only ever brought up other guys in a joking manner, and if it had just been once in a long while, she may not have thought much of it. The frequency in which it happened though was what tipped her off on it being more than playful banter, even if he didn't want to admit it. "No, the point is you've dated and slept with I don't know how many girls, yet you're the one who seems obsessed with the one guy I went on like, two dates with," she retorted. "It's getting a little old."

As it turned out, it seemed that Brendon was still not doing all that great in getting Lacie to see his point because the response that she gave after he finished was less than complimentary. "Okay, well I can see that we're not seeing eye to eye here," he replied. "Though if you would like to know how many girls I've shagged and/or have been out with I've got no problem telling you, Lace." He didn't think that she wanted to hear it but he wasn't going to shy away from the topic if she wanted to. His numbers weren't that high in his own opinion and besides, he wasn't ashamed of anything that he'd done in terms of his romantic life. Well, maybe now he could see the fault in the Nicole situation but he had a feeling that Lacie least wanted to talk about his most recent bird. "Any questions you've got feel free to ask. I won't skirt away from anything." He could say with honesty that Lacie was his favorite of any girl that he'd ever been involved with, despite the challenges that their relationship posed in its inherent nature.

Lacie brought her hand to her face as Brendon suggested telling her how many girls he'd been involved with if she'd like to know, rubbing lightly at her temples, because she wasn't sure what wasn't getting through to him in what she had been saying, but that just wasn't something she cared about. "Brendon, I don't care how many girls you've been with," she told him. "That's not what I was saying. I don't need to know," she went on, shaking her head as she looked thoughtfully at him through her phone screen, frowning lightly. "I just don't get why you fixate on this so much. You're saying it like it's a joke, but if it really was, I would hope you'd have let go by now," she went on with a roll of her eyes. "So what is it? Why do you feel the need to imply that I've got dozens of suitors lining up outside my door every time we talk?" she questioned with a raised eyebrow.

All together it wasn't a surprise that Lacie went ahead and told him that she did not need to know about his past interactions with other girls - something that he'd never tried to hide before. Though her continued train of thought made his mouth pull together slightly as he gave half of a shrug. "I just think you don't see yourself clearly," he answered. She was gorgeous and interesting and intelligent. It didn't seem possible that other people hadn't noticed those very things and weren't just waiting for the moment that he slipped up so that they could step in and well, they had the benefit of actually happening to live in Maui with her. "So seems to reason that you're just not noticing that you do have a line of blokes just waiting for their shot." If he had lived there he would have been at the front of said line - hell, he was at the front of that line when he lived halfway across the world from her and didn't get to see her except on the internet or during visits that they were surrounded by family on.
