Lacie gave a bit of a sigh as Brendon said that she didn't see herself clearly, not really thinking he saw her all that clearly either. She'd never considered herself as being that special - she didn't feel self conscious about most of her characteristics, physical or otherwise, but she didn't feel they made her stand out either. Which was why Brendon's current behavior and statements didn't really make much sense to her, and as he went on to say that it seemed to make sense that she wasn't noticing the line of guys waiting for their shot, she raised an eyebrow at him. "And you think I'll be giving them a shot?" she questioned. She wasn't sure how to fell about that idea - did he think she would just get tired of him not being around and throw herself at whoever was next in this imaginary line of his? Why would she even have agreed to a long distance thing if she didn't think it would last more than just a few months, not even long enough for them to see one another again?

Brendon gave Lacie a bit of a look as she questioned whether or not he thought she'd be willing to give those guys a shot. Honestly, he didn't believe her the type to ever cheat on anyone in any capacity but then, there was the possibility that she'd reconsider this whole long distance thing after a while. "I don't think you'd ever cheat on me, Lace," he responded seriously. Though he did wonder if she had realized the extent of interest other people had about her would have changed the way that things between them progressed. "It's not really important though. I was just saying so because some day I hope you realize just how great you are and how high in demand you could be if you wanted to be." That truly seemed like the only thing that would be standing in her way, other than the fact that she didn't tend to give people a chance to get to know her because being friendly wasn't exactly her nature. Even so, there was a charm about her that he clearly hadn't been able to resist and he doubted that he was the only one.

Lacie shook her head as Brendon stated that he didn't think she would ever cheat on him, because although she should hope so, that wasn't even what she'd been referring to. Giving a bit of a sigh as he went on to say he hoped she'd some day realize how great she was and how sought after she might be if she wished. "Brendon, I wasn't talking about cheating, although I'd hope you wouldn't think I would cheat on you," she said with a light frown. "It has nothing to do with how I see myself. I don't feel self conscious about the idea that guys aren't falling over themselves trying to get to me," she went on, her tone mildly sarcastic at that image. "But I'm also not gonna break up with you to date someone else just because he's here," she informed him. "Why do you think I'm dating you? Just for something to do in my spare time? Or so I can say I have a boyfriend?"

Brendon was never great at serious conversations. He loved to talk, but he spent most of his time avoiding things that were too deep or too much drama. So when Lacie continued going on about everything he was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable, not wanting to get into all of this. Into why he thought about what other guys might be interested in her for or if she would be interested in them. "Lace, it's just a joke," he said, holding up his hand in a form of surrender and hoping that she'd drop the subject. "I'm just messing with you." He did enjoy messing with his girlfriend, it was something that everyone knew. "I wish, of course, that I could be doing a lot more fun messing with you but I've got to take what I can get here. At least until you're over on this side of the date line." Technically, he was pretty much a whole day ahead of her, which was always wild to think about when he considered that in reality they were experiencing life just a few hours apart from one another.

Lacie was far from surprised as Brendon tried to brush everything off as a joke, stating that he'd been messing with her. One thing she had come to learn about him was that serious matters were far from being within his comfort zone, and as a result he typically tried to get out of those kind of talks the moment it seemed like it was headed in that direction. She wasn't planning on letting him off the hook so easily, though. "No, it's not," she said plainly, giving him a bit of a look. "You at the very least seem to pride yourself on originality when it comes to messing around," she went on with a roll of her eyes. "And this comes back around way too much to be considered remotely original. So what is this actually about, Brendon? Do you think I'm gonna get tired of you?" she asked him. "Is it something I'm doing wrong? You know I haven't dated other people."

Brendon couldn't help the slight face that he made as Lacie told him that it wasn't a joke, his mouth briefly pulling together off to the side as his brow scrunched together. Quickly as he could he soothed the look from his face though, training it back to the easy smile that he usually had when he was talking to Lacie. Then she had to go and ask if she was doing something wrong, citing that she hadn't dated other people. "You're not doing anything wrong, Lacie," he told her in a much more serious tone, looking at the camera directly to try and indicate to her just how much he was telling the truth here. "I'm just being stupid. It's nothing new." She'd called him stupid more than once in the past and he highly doubted that she was going to end up stopping anytime soon - he still had plenty of other ideas that she'd think were stupid and she'd never backed down from telling him just what he thought of those ideas. What he needed to do now was just not talk about it anymore, at least not to Lacie.

Lacie wasn't normally self conscious about things, and even now she was trying not to feel that way. It wasn't like dating had seemed like something that required vast experience, figuring she'd get the hang of it as they went, and especially considering the fact that they were doing the long distance thing, there just weren't really set rules to go by. Still, she knew she could be a bit dry sometimes, and she hadn't thought it bothered Brendon seeing as he obviously knew this about her and still liked her. He did seem very intent in reassuring her that she wasn't doing anything wrong though, but that still didn't clear up what this whole thing was about, and why he sometimes seemed so insecure about other guys. "If you're bothered by something, you're not just being stupid," she said with a light shrug and a frown. "I can tell there's something. I just wish you would tell me what it's about, but it's not like I can make you," she added.

The fact that Lacie was the one not dropping something was new and was not something that Brendon was particularly thrilled about if he were honest. Maybe this was how other people felt about him sometimes. Huh, no. That wasn't it, he didn't drop jokes, which was much different. Then she had to add that she wished that he'd tell her but she couldn't make him and that just made everything worse and he groaned as he let his head drop forward. "Lace-" he said somewhat pleadingly but then realized that it wasn't going to change her opinion. "I'm jealous. Okay? All those stupid guys that get to be around and could be outside your door if they wanted." He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, only serving to mess it up further than it was already. "And I don't. I can't. And I don't like that." Nor did he like having to admit this to anyone, let alone her, who was definitely going to think that it was stupid of him. "And now I sound like a loser and I'm supposed to be cool and somewhat aloof and sexy."

Hearing Brendon actually confess to being jealous wasn't actually what Lacie had thought she might get out of this, especially since it didn't actually seem to be about any specific person, but just the idea that there could be guy around here and they had the potential getting an access to her that he did not have. "You've never been aloof in your entire life," she pointed out first and foremost once he was done talking, giving him a bit of a look. If the situation had been different, she might have said he was none of those things - which, obviously, she didn't actually think - but that felt a bit like kicking someone who was already down, so she refrained her sarcastic urges a bit. "And I wish you could be right outside my door if you wanted," she went on with a bit of a sigh. "This is hard. It sucks that you're not here when I want you to be, and that I can't go to you when I want to. I get that," she added. "But I still wouldn't rather be with someone that's here just because he's here. I like you. And you have nobody to be jealous of. Literally," she told him a bit more pointedly. "The imaginary flock of guys you're jealous of doesn't come around, so just be bummed that we don't get to see each other, because there's really nobody else around."

Brendon gave a pained look back as Lacie said that he'd never been aloof in his life even though he'd very clearly just said that he was. Before he could make a comment though, she was blazing ahead to say that she wished he could be outside of her door. Of course he had thought that she felt the same about this whole situation, it wasn't like he'd imagined that he was the only one that had believed that he was having a hard time with their current situation. As she said that there wasn't a flock of guys to be jealous about though he shook his head but he figured that she wouldn't like him to argue her on that. "I like you too." Is what he went with instead, another moment of seriousness before he moved back to his more typical state of being. "But I am hurt that you don't recognize my aloofness. It's my birthright as a British national, I'll have you know. And that's why I'm so guarded with my thoughts and feelings. I'm an iron cage and you're just too dazzled by the accent to realize it. Which, I suppose, is always something I'll have in advantage."

The moment Brendon started going on about being hurt that she didn't recognize his aloofness, Lacie knew she'd gotten about as much seriousness out of him as she would be able to for the duration of this call. It wasn't like it was surprising - if anything, the fact that she had even gotten him to respond seriously to her for the brief moment he had was the surprise. At least now she would know how to better handle the comments he made when he undoubtedly started back up about all her Hawaiian suitors, and hopefully the next few months would pass by quickly. Of course, she had anticipated time to drag until she got to see him again, and she'd known that a long distance relationship would be far from easy. She hadn't quite expected it to be so hard as it was, but it wasn't hard enough that she felt they should give up. She didn't know what the future had in store for them - he said he didn't want this to just be some casual thing until they decided they were bored with it, and he knew she wouldn't move to England. Still, they hadn't discussed things in depth, and there were a lot of uncertainties in what was laying ahead, but at this point she could only hope it would all work out.
