Over the past couple of months, Kylee had started doing a bit of wedding planning in her spare time, looking at venues and caterers, DJs and bands, just to kind of get herself a ball park of what a wedding might cost in Kansas City. The problem was, she didn't really know what she wanted. Of course, Shane was free to give his input as well, but his preferences were less about the basics of wedding planning and more about off the top ideas for things that could happen during both the ceremony and reception. It was an odd place to be in - she really had thought she'd have it all figured out, because she had been the kind of little girl who'd daydreamed about the day she would marry someone she loved, and although she hadn't actively looked at those kind of things throughout her teenage years, there had definitely been moments when she'd felt something was particularly nice and just what she might want when watching movies or tv shows. Looking at those same things now though, she didn't feel any kind of pull or inspiration. It seemed nice enough, but not really what she wanted.
The fact of the matter was, she had changed since she'd started dating Shane. Or maybe she hadn't, but being with him had helped her grow in ways she wouldn't have imagined. She was confident with herself, owned everything that she was. She'd found that she could be a multi faceted individual, that her thoughtful and responsible nature didn't stop her from being fun loving and spontaneous. And she felt it wouldn't be fair to herself to give Shane all the credit for that - she knew she'd had it within herself before him. But she wasn't sure it would have come out without him. She'd used to consider herself a bit of a homebody, and now she could hardly wait for whatever next adventure he planned for them. That was when it had struck her. So much of what had built their relationship had been adventuring together, keeping the planning to a minimum, exploring and seeing new places, new things, some of them amazing and some of them amazingly bad. Why should their wedding be any different?
The sense of rightness she'd felt the moment she'd come to that conclusion had been enough to convince her that it was the right choice. She had debated telling him about that new idea, but she'd decided not to. She felt it was her turn to surprise him with an unplanned day, to him anyway. However, she'd soon realized that there were some people who should be made aware, because it couldn't realistically be just the two of them. The hardest decision to make would likely be to exclude most of their families. What she had in mind would likely involve ten people at most, including themselves, and she couldn't really start to pick and chose which family member should be there. Other than Thomas, of course. And she's had something specific in mind for him. It was only a couple of weeks after everything had come into place in her mind that she'd found the time to approach him, though. She hadn't wanted to speak to him about it over text message, but it was pretty rare for her to be home alone with Thomas. Then, Shane had decided to go and make a vlog with Karen, which had left the coast clear for her, and after he'd set on the road, she had approached Thomas, who was sitting on the couch with a book. "Hey, Thomas, can I bother you for a few minutes?" she asked, feeling a bit bad about interrupting him but knowing this was likely the best time to do so.

Moving out with Shane had been a bit of a given for Thomas. Emily wasn't ready to leave her parents' house yet, and honestly, when his twin brother had decided he wanted to move out, he really could have gone either way. At the end of the day though, he knew it'd be weird to not share a space with Shane anymore, and he felt pretty sure his parents would be glad for the newfound privacy. He didn't mind the extra space himself, having never had a bedroom of his own, although unfortunately it didn't stop his brother from stealing his clothes. Unsurprisingly, chores also weren't something Shane was a huge help with, although he did do them when asked to, and the fact was they just didn't have the same idea of what clean was. Kylee was a much bigger help with that, although she still didn't officially live with them - although as far as he was concerned, the only thing that made it so was that she didn't contribute to rent, but that didn't bother him. She helped with practically everything else, and since Shane was out of school and making a steady income - or as steady as one could make through YouTube - he did take care of a few more bills than Thomas did. Now, if Shane had wanted Karen to be around as much as Kylee was, that would be a very different story, but he didn't mind Kylee's near constant presence.
Today was a day he'd been looking forward to - a day that would be quiet and peaceful for at least several hours while Shane was out doing whatever it was he'd planned to do with Karen. Thomas certainly preferred those shoots to anything that involved filming inside the apartment, knowing he'd be free to get some reading and studying done without being disturbed. He'd started off with a book he'd been meaning to finish, settling on the living room couch to read, but he'd only made it a few pages when Kylee had joined him and asked if she could bother him for a moment. "Sure," he told her, putting his bookmark back in to save his page and setting the book on the coffee table as she sat herself next to him. "What can I do for you?"

Kylee felt strangely nervous as she moved to take a seat next to Thomas on the couch, realizing that what she was going to ask of him - public speaking, in a sense - was a bit out of his comfort zone, but also knowing that there really wasn't a better choice than him for what she had in mind. Or another choice at all. "Well, it's about the wedding," she began, to which he did seem a bit surprised - probably because he hadn't figured she would be the one to approach him with any type of wedding related question. "I've been going through a few options of how it could be and what we could do, and nothing... felt right," she explained. Even though serious conversations weren't the norm between herself and her fiance's twin, and their friendship was a bit more on the muted side, it still somehow felt comfortable to discuss this with him. "And I realized it was because of the planning. So much of mine and Shane's relationship has been built on impulsiveness and easy going that any sort of wedding planning I've been looking through felt off," she went on. "So I've been thinking of just... taking off on a drive one day, and finding a nice, deserted spot to stop at, and just.. surprising him with it. And I'd like you to officiate."

Thomas was admittedly a bit surprised when Kylee came out and said that the discussion she wanted to have with him was about the wedding. He hadn't realized she and Shane had actually been working on that already, although at the same time, it did seem like it made more sense than them waiting very long. With that in mind, he didn't made any comments, letting her say what she wanted to say and giving her his full attention. Everything she was saying did make sense to him - he had himself been having a bit of a hard time picturing his brother having some form of formal wedding that required a lot of forethought, even though he felt quite sure the brunt of the planning would have fell onto Kylee while he threw out crazy and unrealistic suggestions. Kinda like he'd done to him when he'd been brainstorming how to propose. He gave a bit of a smile as she said she'd been thinking of just turning what was a typical adventuring day for them into their actual wedding day, seemingly without Shane's knowledge, because that did seem right up his brother's alley, and he did feel happy for the other guy, knowing he'd found a girl who was so well matched to him. He was taken aback as she finally said that she would like for him to officiate the wedding though, a moment of silence passing as he considered the request. "Yes, I could do that," he said after a moment. "You weren't planning on doing this, like, next week right? Because it might take some time," he pointed out.

There was a brief moment, while Thomas silently considered the statement she'd just made, where Kylee felt worried he would say no. Most likely, it was just due to the fact that she was so used to Shane jumping headfirst into anything and everything without considering the implications, so someone rationally processing a request like this felt nerve wrecking, as if he was looking for a polite way to turn her down rather than just considering what it meant. Still, she felt a wave of relief wash over her as he told her that he could do it, grinning widely as he moved in to hug him tightly as he asked when she was planning on doing it. "No, not next week," she confirmed with a soft laugh, pulling back. "I want to wait a bit until it's nicer out. Maybe the end of April, or the beginning of May," she said with a light nod. "And I have to figure out how to get Shane to sign a marriage license without paying any attention to anything that's being said to him," she went on with a shake of her head. There was no wait required for wedding licenses in Missouri, but it still had to be used within the next thirty days. He didn't know that now, but there was a chance he might find that out once they were signing the papers.

Thomas gave a light smile as he hugged Kylee back, glad to hear her say that she was planning for something toward the end of April or beginning of May. For one thing, that would likely be a comfortable time for an outdoor wedding, so long as it wasn't raining. For another, it would give him plenty of time to figure out exactly how to get ordained online, and how long a process it would be before he received what was needed for him to legally perform a wedding. Shaking his head a bit though as she went on to say she had to figure out how to get his brother to sign a marriage license without paying attention. "Kylee, I can't believe you're marrying the man and are still wondering if he's gonna be distracted while signing legal papers," he teased her a bit. Granted, there was a chance that whoever was getting them to sign the papers would want to make sure his attention was on them, but he felt pretty confident she could manage it somehow. "You will have to get him to buy a wedding band before then, though," he informed her as the thought suddenly came to his mind. "I know he didn't buy a set with your engagement ring. I can try to figure something out for that, though," he went on. He had been thinking of starting to look at rings for Emily, although he knew she didn't want to get married until she graduated college, but he also didn't think she would mind an engagement that maybe lasted a couple of years. He could probably bring Shane along, as painful as that would be.

Kylee did laugh a bit as Thomas pointed out that the odds of Shane not getting distracted while signing legal papers weren't very high, figuring he had a point there, and if the clerk they spoke to was unbothered enough, there might not be too many details given at that time. "Fair enough," she agreed with a nod. As he went on to mention that she'd have to get him to buy a wedding band beforehand, it reminded her of another favor she needed to ask of him, smiling though as he said he could figure something out for that. "Thank you, I appreciate that. Just let me know if he needs an extra push," she told him, idly toying with the ring on her finger. "And actually, speaking of rings," she gave him a bit of a sheepish smile as she spoke, knowing she'd just asked something pretty big out of him but still had to ask for one more thing. "Would you mind getting your ring finger sized and letting me know? As we've previously discovered, you and Shane have pretty identical hands," she went on, her tone a bit teasing as she recalled the first couple's challenge they had played, in which both her and Emily hadn't been able to tell the Micklesen twins' hands apart.

Thomas gave a light nod as Kylee thanked him for the help and asked to let her know if the other guy ended up needing an extra push, figuring he'd have to leave that part up to her if it came down to it. Shane wasn't exactly the kind of guy who enjoyed shopping for jewelry though, so Thomas was pretty confident that getting him into a jewelry store and pointing him to a band that fit his fiancee's engagement ring and wasn't over priced should do the trick. Even if it meant getting endless crazy suggestions and comments while he was trying to find the perfect ring for Emily. He knew she would want something simple, so he was already well prepared for being called boring when he made his selection. "Of course," he told Kylee as she then asked him if he could get his own ring finger sized and let her know so that she could get Shane's wedding band, figuring she was likely right in assuming they'd be about the same size on that front. "I'll try to let you know all of that soon," he said with a light nod, figuring it'd be good for her to have that preliminary information out of the way so that she could focus on whatever else she needed to. Even if this type of wedding required a lot less planning than the typical kind, she'd probably still have to figure a few things out beforehand.

The two favors Kylee had asked out of Thomas were actually some pretty pieces of what she'd had to figure out for what she was planning, so it was definitely nice to know it was now taken care of. She already had a bit of an idea of which road she'd like to take for the adventuring day, but she'd need to give that a bit more thought, as well as which people she should invite. Still, those things wouldn't likely require too much time to figure out, and hopefully she'd manage to pick a day that worked for everyone and didn't end up being rained out. "Thank you Thomas, I truly appreciate it," she told the other guy with a smile, giving him another hug before getting back to her feet. "I'll let you get back to your reading," she said, making her way back to Shane's room and pulling out her phone to text Anna. Her best friend was a given as a guest - she had to have a witness, after all - and somehow it felt odd not to be the other girl when she'd been sharing a lot of her qualms about wedding planning so far. She'd not wanted to talk about it too much before making sure Thomas would agree to officiate, as she wasn't sure who she could even have asked as a second choice if he'd said no, but now that that was settled, she was excited to tell the other girl everything she'd been thinking of for the past couple of weeks.
