PERSONALITY
One of the words most frequently used by Austin's friends to describe him would be goofball, and he wears it like a badge of honor. He is just about as far as you can get from taking himself seriously, which can sometimes make him seem a bit irresponsible, but he figures so long as he gets good enough grades to advance in life and doesn't get in any serious trouble, there's no harm done. He definitely takes after his father in terms of wanting to live life to the fullest and having as much fun as he can, although he didn't quite get his ambitious side. Not that he doesn't have any goal exactly, they're just not his main focus. His mentality isn't so much party hard, work harder, as it is party hard and then work as well as you can once you have a chance. After all, he's only gonna be young once, and he realizes that there's gonna come a time when he's not gonna be able to prioritize fun over work, so he figures that while he can still do it without having to deal with too many repercussions, he might as well. The only expectations he worries about living up to are his own, not wanting to deal with the stress of what other people think he should be doing.
His lack of motivation to work hard doesn't make him someone you can't depend on however - he does do what he's supposed to, even if he might procrastinate to the last minute to get it done, and in his personal life he's always there to help a lending hand to any friend who might need it. All in all, he's a good kid, and his heart is in the right place - he just doesn't feel the need to go along with the 'always gotta be bustling' mentality society seems to want everyone to follow. He's loyal to a fault - most of his closest friends to this day are people he met back in kindergarten and elementary school, and they've navigated life together since. He isn't someone to show negative emotion easily though, often joking around to try and lighten up the mood if something is bringing him down, and he's not the kind of person who gets angry easily either - which, even when he does, it's more of a grumpy, silent kind of anger that doesn't last very long. He's altogether just a pretty mellow kind of person, he goes with the flow and doesn't let himself get dragged into drama or pulled down by people who always seem to insist on being in a bad mood. Life's too short for that.
His stance on relationship doesn't really differ from any other aspects of his life - at this point, he's not interested in anything serious or long lasting. It doesn't make him a player though, even if he can be a bit of a flirt at times, but he knows when to back off. He did have a girlfriend in his last year of high school, although it was still pretty casual, and he wouldn't have minded the idea of seeing her for longer than he did, but they broke things off amicably when she moved to the west coast for college, figuring it made no sense to have a long distance relationship when they barely even described themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend. They're still friends and keep in touch now and again, and they've both been involved with other people since, but he's not really had any interest in repeating the experience with another girl yet, so now he mostly stays on the open dating scene.
LIKES AND DISLIKES
Austin's favorite color is orange, and he's not a fan of cyan. He loves summer, and could do without fall. He's a dog person, but hates birds. He could eat pizza any day of the week, and he craves peanut butter most often, but he hardly ever eats salmon, and dislikes oatmeal cookies. He's not a coffee drinker, he much prefers lemonade. He loves to play video games and hang out with his friends, but dislikes studying. His best subject in school is History, and his worst is English.
APPEARANCE
Although Austin has somewhat of a serious resting face, it's rare for people to look at him and get the feeling that he's an intimidating guy. He doesn't stand very tall, on the low end of average height for men at 5'10, with broad shoulders but a rather slim build. His eyes are light but changing in color from gray to blue, and he has a thin scar running through his left eyebrow from running into a table as a toddler. His lips are narrow, his jaw square and his chin pointed, which can make his forehead appear disproportionally large at times. His hair is kept short mostly because he can't be bothered with extensive upkeep, and though he shaves pretty consistently, he's been known to skip a day or two, resulting in light stubble on his cheeks. Fashion isn't really something he spends a lot of time thinking about - he tends to go for the same kind of pieces his parents used to buy for him when they were still in charge of deciding his wardrobe, so it mostly consists of jeans and t-shirts. He's also not very preoccupied with physical activity, which makes him that much more lucky that his metabolism is pretty fast. He does enjoy team sports more than things like weight lifting or jogging, but he only partakes in them once in a while.
FAMILY DYNAMICS
Austin has a good relationship with his parents, pretty typical of what you might expect of a young adult. He's not particularly close to them, but he also doesn't actively try to avoid them or limit the time he spends with them either. He does get along a bit better with his dad, if just because they have more in common in terms of personal interests so it's easier to find something to do or talk about than with his mom, but then she's the one he tends to go to if he's feeling down or needs advice. He did jump at the opportunity of moving out for college, even though his campus is just about an hour away from the family home, but that was mostly due to the idea that it might be fun to experience dorm life with some of his friends. He typically visits every other weekend, which might in part have something to do with the growing pile of laundry that accumulates over the course of his school weeks (not because he expects his parents to do it but because hey, free laundry) and the fact that he rarely leaves home without a few treats to stash in his mini fridge.
Having twin siblings is something Austin had a variety of feelings about throughout the course of his childhood. At first he was very excited to get two siblings for the price of one, until he found out that babies make a lot of noise, and two babies only just double that. He found them a bit more appealing as they reached toddlerhood, but then as they got a bit older he did start feeling a bit excluded, like he was an only child in spite of having two siblings, because of how closely the two of them were bonded. Since they've reached teenagehood though, he has grown a bit closer to them, mostly because they've started displaying different interests and gravitating toward separate friend groups, so it makes him feel like he has a bit more room to actually be their big brother. Even so, it's hard to separate them in his mind, and he rarely spends one on one time with either of them, but it doesn't really bother him anymore, figuring he should only be glad that they've each got someone so close to them that they can always count on, and knowing that if they ever need that extra bit of support, he'll be glad to offer it.
