PERSONALITY
Penelope is by far the most independent of her siblings, and has been so since she was a small child. She's always wanted to show that she could do things on her own, which does mean she can have a hard time asking for help with anything, regardless of how much is pilling up on her shoulders. She also has a bad tendency of bottling up her emotions, so although she doesn't get overwhelmed easily, when she does, it's enough to cause panic attacks. She has suffered from anxiety since she was in elementary school, although she mostly managed to keep her meltdowns to herself until middle school, at which points her parents realized she needed help. Having been in therapy since the age of twelve has helped her find several ways of handling her anxiety, although there are still times when she allows herself to get to a point where she can hardly breathe. College has been difficult in that respect, as she moved away from home and struggled to find a new therapist she felt the same connection to, leading her to not seeing anyone for a couple of years, until a particularly bad day lead her to realize how much of a set back it had been.
If she's a bit closed off with her feelings, she's still an extremely open and loving person. The fact that she has difficulty accepting help from others certainly doesn't mean she doesn't frequently offer it any chance she has. She's a hard worker, which has helped her get to where she is today as school never came easy to her. Even though her parents always told her they would be proud of her for any grade she got, so long as they knew she had done her best, she's always felt the need to go above and beyond. Unlike academia, photography is something she - unsurprisingly - has a natural talent for, and a passion she shares with both of her parents, fueling her desire to better herself from a young age. She has spent countless hours learning from both her father and mother about varying techniques, which type of camera to favor for what kind of work, and how to ensure flawless results in a darkroom. Although she declined to study at the Academy, uncertain that she would manage her stress with such heavy workload, she did beg her father to give her similar assignments to do at home as he would his students and be just as critical of her work as he would with them, and by the time she was applying for college, she felt confident enough in her skills to get into any photojournalism course she might want.
Dating wasn't in her radar for a long time, mostly due to lack of time and lack of interesting candidates. Dating just to date, or looking for someone she could just make out with, was never really appealing to her, feeling that being involved romantically with someone should be with the purpose of forming a connection. She ended up meeting someone in her second year of college whom she had a lot in common with, but who also proved to be a great support to her, grounding her when she finds it hard to do so herself. He proposed shortly after they graduated, although they agreed to wait until she finishes her Masters' degree before tying the knot.
LIKES AND DISLIKES
Penelope's favorite color is blue, and she's not a fan of orange. She loves summer, and could do without winter. She's a cat person, and she hates snakes. She could eat tostadas any day of the week, and she craves chocolate mousse most often, but she hardly ever touches cabbage, and dislike taffy. She's not a coffee drinker, she much prefers tea. She likes reading and taking pictures, but she doesn't enjoy writing. Her best subject in school is Math, and her worst is History.
APPEARANCE
Penelope has a pretty good grasp of her looks - she doesn't consider herself vain, and she doesn't particularly focus on her appearance too much, but she does enjoy looking her best and as such has a pretty strict beauty regimen to keep her skin and body healthy. She is a little taller than average, standing at 5'7", and her figure isn't particularly curvy but she's happy with what she has and knows how to best show it off when she wants to. Her dark brown hair is naturally wavy, which is generally how she leaves it, framing her slightly rounded face. She inherited her mother's brown eyes and shares her sister's full lips, and although she has a well established skin care routine, she rarely uses makeup except for special occasions. She has a fairly well developped fashion sense, although she tends to favor simple outfits and tasteful pieces. Keeping in shape is very important for her, although she prefers activites that can be done alone if she wishes so as well as with other people, partial to things like yoga, hiking and rock climbing.
FAMILY DYNAMICS
Penelope has always had a good relationship with her parents, and she knows how lucky she is to have both a mother and a father who are incredibly loving, caring and supportive. Even though she's never felt pressured to do more than she was capable of by them, their own personal and professional achievements have always been big motivators for her to strive for success. She does feel a bit closer to her mother, finding it easier to talk to her about things going on in her personal life as well as the academic side, whereas the conversations she has with her father tend to center on school or mutual interests, but she knows she can count on both of them equally to be there for her if she needs them - even though she rarely allows herself to ask anything of them. Even now that she's an adult, they remain her biggest role models and she can only hope to find as much happiness in both her professional and personal life as they have.
Her relationship with her siblings is a bit more complicated. She cares deeply for both her brother and sister, but they all have vastly different temperaments which has sometimes made it harder to find common ground. She has often worried that Myles' introvertness will lead to him not being able to find people to surround himself with, although she has learned to let go as it is up to him to live his life how he wants. As for Bianca, she does find it a bit easier to get along with the younger girl now, although she frequently got irritated with her little sister as kids. She does her best to keep in touch with them, but she finds it easier to make time for phone calls with her parents than with her siblings if she's entirely honest. She still loves whenever they get to meet up and catch up with one another, and she would be there for them in a heartbeat if they ever needed her by their side.
