Naomi was really wishing that Jonathan would have agreed to come out with her tonight. Even though she knew that her best friend was certainly not into the scene of clubs, and definitely would not approve of her using the fake ID that she'd gotten. Still, now that she'd been here a couple of hours she was starting to miss his company. Especially since Daniella had left her alone at the bar about twenty minutes ago after getting hit on by a beautiful girl. Admittedly, she'd kind of been hoping that she'd get hit on by someone too, but quickly a guy approached her that made her wish that she'd never made a wish at all. He was clearly very drunk and kept leaning in closer to her to speak even though she was clearly disinterested. If Jonathan were here, he certainly would have scared the guy off by now. She knew that her best friend was a teddy bear on the inside, but outwardly a lot of people were intimidated by him.
"Did you want to get out of here?" the guy asked, waggling his eyebrows at her.
"Uh- no," she answered, looking around and wishing that she could see someone that she knew who would give her a convenient excuse to get out of here. So far no one around had a familiar face. "I'm actually waiting for someone."
"Oh, who?" he questioned, clearly not thinking that she had anyone that was waiting for her.

Michelle lived a life that she thought of as very balanced. She worked her ass off and as a reward, she got to go out and have a very active social life. Tonight was one of the nights she'd decided to go out with her friends. They went to a well known club by the school, intending on just having some fun and maybe finding someone to go back to the dorms with. Her primary job tonight was to act as a wing woman to London though, since the girl had had a bit of bad luck the past few times that they'd been out. That didn't mean that she wouldn't allow herself some of her own fun if she succeeded in her primary goal though. So for a while she just helped point out possibilities to London and listed off the red flags when the other girl pointed out someone if she saw any. Once her best friend had finally gone to dance with someone she decided that she needed to go get a drink though, so she headed up to the bar and placed her order. A few people down she noticed a guy clearly trying to put the moves on a girl that certainly did not look interested. As she considered herself a feminist, and just a generally good person she decided to step in.
She just heard the girl's comment and the guy's response as she put on a smile and squeed as she put her hand on the brunette's shoulders. "Oh my God, Liz! I've been looking all over for you! My phone died and I thought maybe you decided not to show!" she exclaimed.

Naomi idly wondered what the chances were of Jonathan showing up if she texted him and asked him to come and pick her up. Well, she didn't wonder the odds on it - she knew that he'd come - more she wondered the odds of him being happy to do so. It didn't seem to be much in her favor, nor did she think that this would endear Daniella to him, so maybe it was best not to even go down that path. She was wishing that she'd thought up something a bit better though when he started questioning who she was waiting for. Then, out of nowhere she felt a hand on her shoulder and she was looking back to see a brunette around her age who had to be a guardian angel as she exclaimed that she'd been looking for her everywhere. A sense of relief that she had an out filled her and she got up quickly to hug the other girl. "You know I'd never bail on you, Katie!" she answered, pulling back. "Just like I knew if I hung around the bar enough you'd eventually come around." She said it in the bantery way that friends would talk to each other.

It wasn't the first time Michelle had stepped in for a girl that she didn't know, giving them an out of an uncomfortable situation if they just played along with the part. Not everyone did, but that wasn't her fault. She was doing her good deed and it seemed that the girl in front of her was more than willing to take the out as she got right into part, though Michelle almost wrinkled her nose as she was called Katie because it was way too close to Kaitlyn for her liking but she kept up her smile and even laughed at her mention of sticking by the bar. "You know me," she teased back. She didn't acknowledge the guy that was present at all and she could tell that it was annoying him. She didn't particularly care. "But come on, everyone is waiting for you and you won't believe what Nadia is wearing tonight." She linked her arm through the other girl's and started making her way back to the table that she was busy sharing with the rest of the group that was there. If nothing else, the girl would be free to leave from there.

Naomi gratefully took the brunette's arm as she offered it to her. "Oh, I'll bet," she answered, smiling back as the girl started to lead her away from the guy that she wasn't even going to look back at because she did not feel like saying another thing to him at all. Once they were out of earshot, she did look at her savior gratefully. "Thank you so much," she said. "I didn't know guardian angels drank vodka cranberries, but I'm not about to start complaining."
The girl shook her head and waived off her thanks. "Don't worry, it's our duty as women to stop creepy guys," she replied. "Although, if you were to paint a stunning photo of me in this outfit, I can't say that I'd object."
At that she laughed, glad to see the girl had a sense of humor. "My name is Naomi, by the way," she mentioned.
"Well, Naomi, I'm Michelle," the other girl introduced herself. "And you're welcome to hang out with me and my girls for the rest of the night, if you'd like. The more the merrier, and all that jazz." They had reached a table where two other girls were already standing, their drinks in various stages of emptiness. "Ladies, I picked up a stray. This is Naomi, victim of an overly clueless creeper."
The girls greeted her with sympathetic smiles and a couple of choruses of how much that sucked. They were pretty cool though and she ended up spending the rest of the night hanging around with the group, watching as they all got approached at some point or another by various guys and sometimes girls asking to dance. Her savior went to dance with a few different guys, but ended up coming back each time, apparently not interested in going home with any of them. As for herself, she also got asked to dance a few times and also found that none of the guys seemed to be up her alley in terms of interest. Somehow, it didn't seem like a loss though as she talked it over with the ladies back at the table.

Michelle figured that there was no harm in inviting the girl that she'd just helped get out of a sticky situation to hang out with her friends for a little while. If she turned out being annoying they'd all just leave to dance at one point or another and abandon the table. As it turned out though, her instinct was right in terms of thinking that she might be interesting. She certainly had a way of seeing things and saying things and as they danced and spoke, she found that she'd be a good person to go out with. Not someone who really needed a lot of looking after - which was good, because she wasn't trying to be anyone's mom. A few times guys approached her and she went off with them, but each time there was something that ended up being a turn off. One guy slobbered in her ear, another had awful breath up close, and the third just seemed to be to the point where he'd pass out before any fun was to happen. So she went back to the table with her girls each time, sometimes going out to dance with them as she pounded back her drinks.
Eventually though, it came time to think about leaving as she had work tomorrow morning. As she headed out of the club Naomi also did so, mentioning that she'd ought to get going before her roommate worried too much about her. "Bit of a mom friend?" she asked drily, taking in a breath as they exited the club and then reaching for her bag so that she could light a cigarette.
Naomi laughed. "I'd call him more of an older brother friend," she countered. And though she didn't look horribly impressed with her smoking she didn't actually say anything. "Which, thanks again, for bailing me out back there."
"We all need it sometimes," she answered, shrugging as she took another drag. "Besides, you ended up helping make the night great. If you give me your number I can invite you to some parties off campus sometimes. Guys at those tend to be more interested in hooking up with the first person to say yes, so they don't tend to linger as long. Not until the end of the night, anyway. That's the time to leave."
Naomi did take out her phone and pass it over, agreeing that she'd have to check it out sometime. She put in her number as a new contact before handing back the phone. Then the Uber arrived though and she threw her cigarette onto the ground, squashing it out onto the pavement before getting in with a wave at the other girl. Tonight wasn't a total waste, given everything she'd accomplished. Besides, there was always tomorrow to find someone to hook up with.
