Kylee had gone through a lot of different emotions of the past couple of hours. She'd been feeling a bit off for the past few weeks, a little nauseous at time although only mildly so, and just more tired than usual. She'd put it off to stress though, as she and Shane had been planning a lengthy trip in Alaska and Northern Canada for the past few months, which would be a featured series on his vlog, and it'd just come to fruition recently. When her general feeling of unwellness hadn't gone away with the stress though, she'd started wondering if she shouldn't go to a doctor once they returned home, until her eyes had landed on the box of tampons she'd packed for the trip, and it had hit her like a ton of bricks. She hadn't had her period in almost two months. She had tried to keep herself in check at first - stress could, after all, make someone skip a period as well - and had gone to the pharmacy to procure a few pregnancy tests. Probably more than strictly necessary, but she wanted to make as certain as she could - and after all five of them had turned out positive, it seemed unlikely that there was a mistake in there. Disbelief, surprise, worry, and a bit of fear had succeeded one another, until she'd gotten to the point of acceptance and excitement. She and Shane hadn't been planning for a child right now, but they weren't in a bad place to have one, either. She had waited for him to return to the house they were renting, having let him go out alone for a bit as she had told him she was feeling under the weather, knowing she wouldn't be able to keep it from him until she could confirm with a blood test anyhow. When he'd returned, she'd greeted him normally and had asked about his day, listening to a couple of crazy stories he had to share. Once he seemed to be done, she grabbed the card she'd gotten at the pharmacy - finding it too good to pass up, even if she didn't turn out to be pregnant, and figuring she'd just find a use for it later if the results were negative. "So, I have something for you," she told him, handing over the envelope.

The trip of going up north had been quite the undertaking for Shane and Kylee, a bigger adventure than anything that they'd ever done before; lasting longer with more intensive shooting than his channel usually saw. He'd taken the time off from shooting for a YouTube company in Los Angeles to do an extended adventure after getting an offer to do so. He'd been funded to go and do the trip by tourism departments in both Alaska and Yukon, to show off what the northern parts of the continent had to offer. Another difference was that as part of this adventure, they'd been staying in one spot for longer and taking out small day trips to see various places. Kylee had been feeling under the weather lately, which he attributed to the change of climate and the long hours of the days. So this morning when he'd set out on his daily adventure, he went ahead and left her at their rental. It'd been a long day but he'd gotten a lot of great footage and he was anxious to go over it and start editing (something that he did daily to keep on top of the ever growing amount of footage that had been shot). Once he'd arrived back he started telling Kylee all about what she'd missed though she'd see parts of it later on. When she told him she had something for him though he raised his eyebrows.
"A gift, for me?" he questioned, taking the envelope from her. "What is a dad?" he read from the card, glancing up at Kylee in a questioning manner. "A riddle? Hmm, a dad is a human that makes corny jokes to their offspring! Is that the answer?" he flipped open the card and read the words printed inside. You. You is a dad. For a moment he froze, then he looked up at Kylee in shock. His eyes going from her stomach to her face and then back again. "Are you... are we? I'm a dad?!"

Kylee knew the best plan of action would have been to wait until she got confirmation from a doctor before she told Shane, and if they'd been going home over the next couple of days she would have. However, they were supposed to stay out here for another couple of weeks, only halfway through their journey, and she knew she just couldn't wait that long. As it was, she was pretty confident at this point that the tests were unlikely to be wrong, with her period being as late as it was, and the fact that she hadn't been feeling too great lately. She did get a lot of enjoyment out of watching Shane piece together the outside and inside of the card, biting down lightly on her bottom lip as he looked from her face to her stomach, nodding lightly as he spoke up to question if she was actually pregnant. "I'm pretty sure I am," she told him. "The tests are positive. I guess we won't know a hundred percent for sure until we get back home, but somehow I can feel it," she spoke, which she knew probably seemed weird but it was true. "You are going to be a dad," she confirmed with a light smile, suddenly feeling a little nervous as to how he would react. He'd displayed shock for sure, but she was having a hard time figuring out his thoughts past that.

This wasn't something that Shane had even considered when Kylee had started to feel under the weather. They hadn't been trying to have a kid or anything, they used protection regularly but then there was always that percentage of people for who it failed and he guessed that they would be in that group. As Kylee explained the positive tests and the fact that she could just feel it, before confirming that he was going to be a dad again he couldn't help but grin. The card dropped to the floor as he made his way over to her and pulled her into his arms, kissing her deeply for a couple of minutes before pulling away and looking at her with a smile that he couldn't stop. Kylee was having a baby. They were having a baby. "I'm gonna be a dad!" he exclaimed, the reality of it catching up to him. He and Kyele were going to bring a small human into the world and get to raise it and shape it and have it be half of him and half of her. He hoped that it would be a lot of her, she was so genuinely good and the world would be better with more of her. "I have to tell Thomas!"

Kylee felt a weight drop from her shoulders she hadn't known was there as she watched Shane drop the card to the floor with a wide grin, giving a smile of her own as he made his way over to her and pulled her into his arms. Returning the kiss he pressed to her lips just as deeply as he gave it, her fingers moving up to run through his hair as she suddenly felt a strong wave of emotion course through her, making her eyes well up. Giving a soft, happy laugh as she heard his exclamation once he pulled away, seeing him so happy making her feel even more excited than she had been prior to this. The next thing he said, of course, was far from being a surprise, although she felt a little uncertain about how quickly she wanted to spread the news. "Of course you do," she spoke indulgently, pressing another light kiss to his lips. "I don't suppose it would do much good to ask if we could wait until I've been to the doctor before sharing the news, though?" she asked a bit hopefully, wondering if he'd be able to hold off from telling his twin for another couple of weeks. "And I don't want too many people to know until a few months in," she added.

The tears that welled up in Kylee's eyes weren't a surprise at all for Shane, because he knew her to be emotional and this was certainly a time that would be emotional. He smiled at her as she indulged him in saying that he'd have to tell Thomas about this. Even now that he didn't live near his twin, the other guy knew everything that went on into his life. If they weren't Facetiming, he was texting him and keeping him up to date with everything. He thought about it when she mentioned asking him to postpone telling Thomas until they were able to get to a doctor to confirm it. The thing was though if it turned out not to be true he'd be disappointed and then he'd have to explain it all to Thomas. "I can try not to tell Thomas yet, but I cannot make any promises, you know I can't keep secrets from him," he pointed out. "But I can keep it from other people, no problem." Okay, maybe it would be a bit of a problem because he was a loud mouth but he could try and keep it to himself as much as possible until Kylee gave the okay.

Kylee gave a light smile as Shane stated that he could try not to tell Thomas, but didn't want to make any promises since he couldn't typically keep secrets from him. Ultimately, she wasn't bothered by the idea of Thomas knowing so soon, as if something did happen with the pregnancy and it all went wrong, Shane would need the support of his brother. Besides, she knew she could trust Thomas not to go telling other people, save Emily, and she had no fears that the other girl would spread the news further than that. And if, upon their return to California, they found out that the pregnancy tests had been wrong and she wasn't actually expecting, well, it wasn't like they'd be upset with them for sharing the news too soon. "That sounds fair," she agreed with a nod as he told her he could keep it from other people, no problem, although she didn't know if it would really be quite that easy for him, but hopefully they'd make it a few months without everyone finding out. "I love you, Shane," she told him as she moved her hands to frame his face, pressing her lips to his in a soft kiss. She honestly couldn't have imagined a better life than what she had with him now, and she was beyond excited to start off the next chapter.

Shane gave Kylee a grin as she agreed that his solution was fair enough. She had always been so very reasonable, knowing exactly what he needed and what was right. There was no surprise from him that she seemed to have the same thoughts on this front. He returned the soft kiss that she gave him, continuing to hold her close and when they finally pulled apart he looked at her with a warm smile. "I love you, too," he answered. Then he glanced down to her belly and shook his head a little, as if still in wonder as to all of this happening. "And I'll love our family." It was sooner than he expected it to happen, but then, most of his life had happened in ways that he hadn't expected and he had to say that as far as his life was concerned... well, he had nothing to complain about. Everything wasn't perfect, but it was better in so many ways than he could have never even imagined while growing up. He had a feeling too, that it would only continue to keep getting better from this point onward and that was exciting.
