Maybe making friends best by kissing people wasn't the most conventional way to do things, but Amanda had always figured that she was young and if she was attracted to someone it shouldn't be a big deal to kiss them.
In the case of Anna Robertson, it had sort of happened accidentally. Or, not accidentally, but she hadn't planned on kissing the girl when she'd arrived at the party that she'd been invited to. She'd just gone because it was only a month into the school year and she wanted to make some new friends
Of course, she should have figured that being at a party of high school teens at some point there would have to be a silly game where people would be encouraged to spend some time kissing. Which was exactly what happened and she really wasn't complaining when she was asked if she wanted to join in the game of spin the bottle. Pretty simple a concept, but she figured that it was as good a time as any to play.
For the first few rounds, she wasn't even selected. In fact, they'd gotten through ten turns before she was selected. Most of the group was made up of attractive Sophomores and Freshmen, although there was a Junior that she'd noticed in the group too. She'd been a bit disappointed to not be picked a few times because there were certainly some very attractive people that were at the other end of the bottle, but she figured that she'd get her turn soon enough.
Her attention was drawn when though when an attractive redhead who looked to be only a year or so older than her reached to grab onto the bottle. The girl was thin and tall and had bright blue eyes and looked exceptionally well in the dress that she was donning. She'd recalled that the girl had been called Anna by friends and that she'd just kissed a guy named Kevin on his last turn and that the guy had tried pretty hard to get it to stop on her. Glancing toward him now she saw him shifting slightly, as if ready to move to help his case. Well, clearly he was interested.
She'd been watching to see if the guy would get lucky and was therefore surprised when, instead, it stopped in front of her.
Standing up, she went ahead and met the girl in the middle of the circle, noticing that the Kevin guy didn't seem to be too disappointed by the turn of events. Honestly, like two girls kissing was that much more exciting.
"Hey, I'm Anna," the other girl introduced herself, apparently not wanting to make out with someone whose name she didn't know. She could respect that.
"Amanda," she replied with a smile, reaching up to push a strand of the girl's fiery hair out of her eyes and letting it linger for a moment.
Since Anna was taller, she reached down and pulled her closer by her waist. There was a moment where their eyes met before their lips did the same and instantly she found that the other girl was a good kisser. Her lips felt soft but nice against her own and she had a cinnamon taste to her. Like she was trying to be an embodiment of her hair or something. Her fingers tangled into the Sophomore's hair as she felt her pushing closer, so that their bodies were flush together.
Without even thinking about it, she deepened the kiss naturally, her tongue running along Anna's bottom lip. Finding that the girl opened her mouth instantly to her touch and their tongues mingled together in a battle for control that she quite enjoyed. In fact, when time was called, she was reluctant to pull away and noted that she certainly seemed in no hurry either.
However, they did have to part and when they did and each sat down she found her eyes drawn toward the Sophomore much more frequently. And although when it was her turn to play, she got a guy that was decent enough at it, when the game disbanded she wasn't surprised at all that the redhead came over to her after stopping by the drink table.
"So, you're a freshman, right?" she asked, a cup of something in her hand.
"Yup. First year here, I'm a musician," Amanda replied, looking at her. "And I love your dress by the way. It looks great on you."
"Well you look pretty fantastic yourself," she answered with a laugh. "I mean it's really not fair to everyone that you should be so beautiful."
"Thanks, but I don't think I'm anymore beautiful than you are. And talk about unfair, what about you kissing like that?" she taunted playfully, lightly pushing at the other girl's shoulder.
"Oh hey, don't even pretend like you're not a great kisser either. False modesty isn't very becoming," the older girl laughed again, a sound that carried.
"Well you never know, it could have been a fluke. Maybe it was just the one time I was good at it and I'm usually terrible."
"I really doubt that it would be true."
"But it could be the truth and you'd never know," she continued with a shrug, looking up at her through her eyelashes.
Clearly the vocalist was forward because the next thing she knew the other girl's lips were on her own once again and this time the kiss was a bit more demanding, but better than before. Her fingers twirled the older girl's bright hair around them and she felt the Sophomore's free hand run along her side. They stayed in the embrace until they each pulled away breathless.
"I knew it wasn't true," Anna teased, her eyes bright. Her hand moving up and pushing a strand of the freshman's blonde hair behind her ears.
"I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a fluke on your part either," Amanda taunted back.
"And was it?" She raised an eyebrow and took a sip of her drink.
"Well, as far as I can tell, no, but I suppose that two times can't really give an accurate answer," she replied shamelessly.
"Then I guess we'll have to fix that," Anna answered. "But maybe a bit later. I'm tired of all the people around here looking at us like it's a free show."
Glancing around, she noticed that the other girl wasn't exaggerating and there was a group that was pretty much staring at them. "Okay, so how about you give me your number and we can continue this some other time?"
"Deal."
And continue it later they did, until they got to the point where each had other people they'd rather make out with. In Anna's case it came in the form of an admittedly very attractive Senior and in Amanda's, it came in the form of an attractive Junior.
