Natalie felt a bit anxious as she pressed the call button next to Seth's name on Skype. She'd looked in the bedroom mirror before doing so, trying to make sure that she looked alright since this would be a video call. It wasn't even worth denying anymore that she had a crush on the photographer. Not that she was planning on acting on it and as such she tried to push it out of her mind. The last thing she needed was to be awkward during it. When his face popped up, she smiled and gave a wave. "Hey," she greeted him, feeling her heart get a little fluttery.

Seth had definitely been glad to be home for the summer, get to see his family again and especially get to hang out with Char - although, the other girl had been getting increasingly annoying about his relationship, or more like lack of thereof, with Natalie. She had actually bugged him quite a bit about the fact that he had a scheduled Skype call with the film maker, asking him if he planned on dressing nice for it. Not really thinking that was a necessity, but he had taken the time to make sure he didn't look frumpy either before the call came in. Trying not to seem too eager as he answered it, although he was looking forward to seeing her face. "Hey," he greeted her with a light grin as she smiled and gave a wave.

Looking at Seth on the screen did make this conversation feel a bit more real than the messages they'd exchanged thus far over the summer. Plus, the way he smiled at her was definitely a nice sight that couldn't be displayed through messages. Of course, it still wasn't as nice as speaking to him face to face but that wouldn't be a problem for that much longer either so there was no point in dwelling on it. Especially not during this call. "How are things over there?" she asked curiously, hoping that it wasn't too lame a way to start things out.

It wasn't like Seth had forgotten how pretty Natalie was over the summer - the pictures she'd posted on Facebook had been fairly frequent reminders - but actually being able to see her as they interacted was somewhat different. It reminded him of how he liked certain ways she smiled as she spoke, the expressiveness on her face as she got into a subject she was passionate about - which he was now hoping would happen during this conversation. It was more than just her features and her curves that made her beautiful. "Things are fine, pretty much the usual," he said with a light nod. "Well, except I'm pretty sure my sister is dating her best friend in secret, but other than that, the usual," he added as an after thought. "What about on your end?"

Ridiculiously, part of Natalie worried that maybe her question would get her an answer that she didn't want. Maybe Seth would tell her about a girl that he was seeing or something of that nature, though he wouldn't really have reason to in her opinion. She raised an eyebrow as he mentioned that he was pretty sure his sister was secretly dating her best friend, wondering what that was about. "It's all boring over here," she answered with a shrug. "What makes you think your sister is in a secret relationship with her best friend? And why would it be a secret?"

Seth could see that his comment peaked Natalie's interest a bit in the way she raised an eyebrow, though giving a bit of a smile as she first answered his question, saying things were mostly boring over there. "I've watched them interact together their entire lives. Her best friend is our parents' best friends' kid, and he was born like, just three months before her. And like... she's pretty good at being subtle, but he's not that great at it, so I can tell there's something different," he explained with a light shrug. "And I'm pretty sure she doesn't want my mom to know, cause she most likely wouldn't let it go for months."

Natalie knew a little about Seth's family, enough to know the basic structure of it and how he got along with the various members. From what she remembered he didn't seem all that close to his sister, but the way he'd described it had to do more with her just not being the type to be close to people. As he explained his thought process, she gave a nod because it made sense. "Your mom rooting for them to get together or something?" she asked. "Want to be related to her best friend through marriage?" Her mom had made jokes about that with Issac and her 'cousin' Emmaline. Not that that had turned out and she doubted it ever would.

Seth gave a light smile as Natalie questioned whether his mom was rooting for Makenna and Justin to get together, tilting his head a bit. "Not specifically," he said, trying to figure out how to properly explain his mom to the other girl. "Like, I'm sure she'd be thrilled about it, but that'd be more of a bonus than anything else. She's just... a bit intense at times," he went on, though that seemed like a bit of an understatement at times. "If she starts asking questions, she won't stop til she gets answers. And once she's on a roll, there's just no way of changing the subject," he added with a light shake of his head, though he couldn't help but smile a bit as he spoke. For the most part, he didn't mind his mom's crazy edges.

Natalie was glad when Seth went on to answer her question by explaining a little more about his mom. She liked hearing about his family. It gave a better root for her to figure him out and the way he described his mom sounded like she was someone that was an interesting person to be around.. if not maybe a little much. Then, he didn't seem to mind as he spoke with a level of fondness. "I guess there's something to be said for determination," she joked. "But I can see how that might be a bit of a bother. Does she ever-" She stopped figuring it wasn't her place to pry more. "To some, I mean."

Seth gave a laugh as Natalie responded to his description of his mother by saying there was something to be said for determination, because that was certainly something his mom wasn't lacking in. Honestly, when she and Aunt Val got an idea in their head, it was pretty well impossible to stop them. Not missing the way she seemed to change the course of her sentence, but not questioning it either. "I mean, Makenna's the most private of us so I'd get why she's a bit more bothered by it," he told her. "I don't really care, though sometimes you just kinda have to try and reign her in."

Natalie was relieved when Seth didn't question the way that she changed her question, not wanting to have to explain that she had been almost casually prying into his personal life a bit more than she had the right to do. She nodded as he mentioned that his sister was very private and would be more bothered by his mom. "That's funny," she replied, shaking her head a little at the thought. "I mean, that you have to do the reigning in of your mom as opposed to the other way around. Does it work well for you or is it more of a losing battle on your end?"

Seth had admittedly never really seen his mom as a very strong figure of authority. Of course, he respected her still, but it just wasn't her style of parenting. In hindsight, it was probably a good thing that none of her kids had turned out to be trouble makers, because that would probably have made it a lot more important for her to be strict with them, and he didn't know how much she would have enjoyed that. "It depends on the subject," he told her with a bit of a grin as she asked if his reigning in of his mom worked well for him, or if it was a losing battle. "Sometimes you just kinda have to admit defeat and let her run out of things to say," he went on with a light shrug.

Seth didn't seem like the type that would have to be very responsible at home so the news that his mom might not be the most authoritative person was a little surprising. Then again, maybe hid dad filled the roll. Or maybe he just didn't need it. If he was disorganized, he was also intelligent and not a trouble maker. "Any subjects really set her off?" she questioned. "Or is it a roll with the punches situation where you just realize part way through that it's going to be one of those subjects and you're going to have to listen until she's done? Though I can't imagine what it'd be for you."

Seth realized he had walked himself in a bit of a situation when Natalie asked if there were any subjects that really set his mom off, because right now, the honest answer was definitely her kids' dating lives - which was probably another reason why Makenna would want to be secretive with hers. "Erm, well," he began as he rubbed at the back of his neck slightly. "She is usually hard to stop when it comes to things like... dating and stuff," he said, giving a bit of a smile. "Which, you know, probably again supports the theory of my sister keeping her relationship a secret," he went on, hoping she wouldn't dig too much as to who exactly his mom may have been bugging him about. As it was, he knew he could have lied in the first place, said there wasn't anything specific, but the idea of being caught in a lie by Natalie somehow seemed worse than possibly giving himself away.

Natalie was curious if Seth had something that he was bugged for but she hadn't wanted to be that direct about it and seem like she was bothering him. His answer did leave her with more questions though she again didn't feel comfortable asking them. Was he currently being bothered by her about anyone? And how often had he been bothered about his dating life in the past? Why was he rubbing his neck like that? Did it mean anything? Probably not. She tried to push all the thoughts away. "Point taken," she replied as he mentioned that it did speak to why his sister would keep her relationship a secret.
