Claire was aware that what she was doing was a bit odd and she was sure that Joseph was probably a bit confused by her request, but he'd agreed that he'd help her out. Plus, she didn't think that he would really mind, so she waited as the facetime conversation rung for him to pick up. Once he did she wasted no time in diving in - he wasn't someone to beat around the bush and she didn't see the point in taking up too much of his time. "Okay, so, I need your opinion on something. It shouldn't take long," she started out, pushing some of her hair over her shoulder with her free hand. "I've been unable to get a consistent answer from Anna and Kylee and since you're a guy who will be very honest with me, I figured that you'd be the best bet."

Joseph honestly had no idea what to expect from speaking with Claire right now. They had obviously gotten along very well while she'd visited Anna over the summer, but it'd pretty much just been that. Sure, they were Facebook friends now, and once in a while commented on each other's stuff, but that was really the extent of it. So the fact that she needed his opinion on something was a bit intriguing to him, and seeing as he didn't have anything to do right now, he'd not been against the idea of talking to her for a bit. Answering as she FaceTimed him and tilting his head a bit as she went on to explain that she'd been unable to get a consistent answer from her friends, and figured he'd be the best bet as someone who'd be very honest. "Alright, shoot."

Claire could tell that Jospeh was a bit surprised that she had made the demand to him for his opinion, which she could understand. However, she did think he'd be upfront with her. "Okay, so this will be a weird but like, is this too much?" she questioned, turning the camera around so that he could see her reflection in the full length mirror that was on her bathroom door. "Like, if you're out and you see a girl wearing this dress is it like... she's trying too hard?" She turned slightly to give him a better view of the back as she held it the phone steady in her hand. Anna had said it was the kind of thing one would wear to avoid having to go out, but then, Anna would probably fill out the dress a bit better than she would so maybe the rules were different.

Joseph had figured that he might understand why Claire had wanted his opinion once she presented the matter at hand, but he had to admit that wasn't quite so as she turned her phone around to show her reflection in a mirror, showing off her body in the very short, very tight dress she was wearing. She did have it right in saying that this was weird, because fashion advice was far from being his thing, although the comment that followed did clear things up a bit. "I mean, I don't know that I'd think she's trying too hard, but the thought that she's definitely trying would cross my mind," he admitted. "But then I'd probably think of what my moms would say about making that kind of assumption, and tell myself maybe she's just wearing it cause she feels great in it," he went on with a light shrug, keeping his tone fairly casual in spite of the fact that he was having a hard time not taking her in right now, wishing she was in front of him rather than on such a tiny screen.

Claire gave a nod as Joseph confirmed that he'd think that someone wearing her dress was trying, since that much was apparent but that wasn't really the answer that she was needing. Hence, when he went ahead and mentioned that he'd also think about what his moms had taught him about girls wearing what they wanted to feel good in she gave him a bit of an unimpressed look. "Great, my aunt is somewhere cheering," she answered, a touch of sarcasm entering her tone. "It's not really the kind of answer I'm looking for. I know I can wear what I want just because I want to but it's not really the purpose here. Do I feel sexy?" She looked at herself in the mirror and gave a nod. "Yes, I do. What I'm asking is like... would it stop you from approaching me. Like, is it a deterrent? Should I scale back a little into something a bit less..." She gave a sweep of her had in a broad sense as she tried to figure out what she wanted but she wasn't coming up with anything either on that front.

Joseph raised an eyebrow slightly as he heard the sarcastic touch to Claire's voice, although he knew that his answer probably hadn't been the kind of help she'd hoped for. Giving a light snort as she stated that his aunt was cheering for him somewhere and deciding that since she was looking for a direct answer, he might as well give her that. "It wouldn't deter me from approaching you," he told her with a shake of his head. "If I was looking for a one night stand, you'd definitely be on my radar," he went on bluntly, giving a light shrug. "So I guess if that's what you're going for, you're in the clear," he concluded, wondering idly if that was actually what she was looking for. Weirdly enough, she didn't strike him as the type to just go and hook up with a random guy at a bar, in spite of the fact that she hadn't known him that well when she'd had sex with him this summer. But then, she'd been in a safe place, and she knew his family and hadn't just met him at the time either, so it still seemed a bit different. At the end of the day though, he really didn't know her well enough to make that judgment.

Although Claire hadn't known Joseph long, she did know that he was someone whose opinions that she could trust. In this instance specifically she knew it even more, because the type of person that she was interested in attracting, was, in fact, quite like Joseph. Someone who would respect her but also would be willing to make an approach to her. Thus, when he answered to say that she'd be on his radar she gave a smile, since that was exactly what she'd been hoping to hear. "Great," she responded happily. "Though, to be fair, I'm not sure yet if I'll even be allowed in. Apparently there are some clubs around that are notoriously lax in ID checking but..." She gestured to her body with a slight twist of her mouth and a sigh. "It'll be worth a go though. Not that I think you've ever had problems passing for older. Your friend though, the boyish looking one, how do you get him in anywhere with you?" Joseph could easily pass as someone in his early twenties if he wanted, his friend that she'd seen at the house a couple of times, well, he looked to be about her age.

Joseph wasn't really sure why he currently felt uncomfortable at the knowledge that Claire planned on going out in this outfit. It wasn't jealousy, that much he knew - he didn't mind the idea of her having sex with another guy. However, he wondered idly if she realized that any given guy who approached her based on the fact that they thought she'd be up for a one night stand wouldn't necessarily have the same mindset as he did about how her treated girls. Obviously, he knew Claire was smart, but she was also young, and she'd clearly never been to a club. And even if they weren't exactly best buds at this point, that didn't mean he liked the idea of anything happening to her. He did give a light chuckle as she asked how Landon ever managed to get in anywhere with him, shaking his head a bit. "Nothing that'll help you, trust me. I mean, Landon has a fake ID," he said with a light shrug. "A pretty damn good one, too. And mine was made by the same people, so when people don't question mine at all but try to question his, he pulls out the race card," he told her.

It didn't surprise Claire in the slightest to hear that Joseph had a fake ID since he did seem like the type that would have one - which was funny because she couldn't imagine Anna ever doing so, even if she had an inclination toward it she knew her friend would be uncomfortable with the idea of using a fake ID despite the fact that she was an actress and that her moms probably wouldn't care if they were to find out from the impression she'd gathered of them. "The race card?" she questioned when Joseph mentioned that his friend used it wondering how that worked. "Like, just that they're racist for not letting him in?" It was a bold move to make, but she didn't really see how it would help all that much in his case. "Though, obviously, you're right that it is of no help to me in the slightest." She wished, not for the first time, that she had appeared a bit older since there didn't seem to be anything that would be helpful if that's what Joseph's friend had to do in order to get past bouncers at the door.

Joseph shook his head a bit as Claire questioned if Landon just accused the bouncers of racism for not letting him in, because that wasn't quite what he'd meant, smiling a bit though as she mentioned that he'd been right in that it would be of no help to her. "Not exactly," he said. "It's more about the stereotype that a lot of east Asian people look younger than they are," he went on. "So, if my ID isn't getting questioned but his is, it's just cause his Asian genes make him look younger than he is," he explained. "Obviously, it doesn't always work, cause Landon does look like he's still in high school," he told her with a light shake of his head. "And sometimes, that just leads to them not letting me in either, cause if he says we're the same age and they don't believe he's over 21, that kinda throws me under the bus," he gave a light grin and a bit of a shrug.

What Claire was realizing as Joseph explained was that she'd never really thought about the stereotype that was being presented. She did think that Landon looked younger than Joseph, but Joseph looked a bit older than his age anyway so she wasn't sure how much of it was possibly an internalized stereotype. It was something to examine later and she'd tuck that away for later. She did laugh though as he explained that sometimes it backfired and kept them both out of getting in. The way that he spoke about it made her think that it often wasn't the case though. "Well, friendship being what it is wouldn't you just stay out of the club if he wasn't allowed in anyway?" she asked, a little teasingly. He seemed to be very loyal to Landon and she had no doubt that the two of them were the type that would do anything for the other.

Joseph was admittedly a bit surprised that this conversation was still going on. Not that he minded, but he would have thought Claire would take his answer and then roll with it, unless he'd been mistaken in his assumption that she'd asked about the outfit because she planned on going out tonight. Granted, depending on which place she was attempting to sneak in, it might not open until a bit later still - and to top it off, she was an hour behind him in central time. Still, he'd thought she was mostly just after an opinion from him. Tilting his head a bit as he heard her ask if he wouldn't just stay out of the club if Landon wasn't allowed in, the corner of his mouth twitching up slightly. "Yeah, I guess I usually do," he said in a casual tone, giving a bit of a shrug. Truth be told, he'd never even think of going in if Landon wasn't allowed along with him.

Claire gave a smile as Joseph confirmed that she was right in thinking that he wouldn't go anywhere that Landon wasn't allowed anyway. One of the things that had seemed apparent about him was his loyalty to his friend and she found that commendable about him. "Maybe I should look into getting a fake ID to make things easier..." she mused aloud. "Then again, if I got caught with one and anyone found out it'd end up as like TMZ fodder and my dad would be so upset with me. My mom would be so disappointed too." She wrinkled her nose at the idea, as her mom being disappointed was about the worst thing that could happen. "Why do I feel like if you got caught with a fake your moms wouldn't really care all that much?" From her interactions with the older women they seemed to be very laid back and not the type that would care if their son was in trouble over a fake ID.

Joseph was a little curious as he heard Claire say that if she got caught with a fake ID and anyone found out, it'd likely end up on TMZ and neither of her parents would be happy about it, although they would apparently display it in different manners. It did make him a bit confused about her logic though, but he overlooked that for the time being, figuring he should probably answer her question before bringing up the fault he saw with her plans. "Because they probably wouldn't," he said with a light shrug. "I mean, they'd probably be upset if I got in trouble because of it and they had to bail me out of jail or something, but they know I go out, so I'm pretty sure they have an idea that I have a fake ID," he went on. "So long as I'm not being an idiot with it, I think they're fine with it," he told her, tilting his head a bit. "But let me get this straight," he spoke, going back to her previous statement. "You're thinking getting a fake ID would be bad in case of getting caught, cause your parents would be upset, but you're not thinking getting caught as an underage patron in a club would be a problem for them?" he questioned with a slightly raised eyebrow. "A bouncer is gonna confiscate your fake ID, and that's usually about it. If you're caught underage, chances are the cops are around."

Claire gave a bit of a nod as Joseph did confirm that his moms would not care so much about his fake ID. It sounded like something that Aunt Cheyenne and Uncle Kyle would do or say, which were the parents that she'd started to equate Anna's to. As Joseph gave his side of the story she listened to his concerns but shook her head. "Some places take and mail them to the police, or hand them over to the police. All it takes is one wrong person to recognize it," she replied. "But, I'm not planning on going to an over 21 club anyway. I don't want to go for dancing, so I'm fine with the big mark they would put on my hand to not get served alcohol." She had done her research into this, wanting to make sure what ways would be best for her to get in. "So even if a cop turned up, it'd be unlikely that they'd question me because I wouldn't be drinking. i don't want to be drinking alone at a club, especially not if I'm planning on interacting with guys. Maybe I'll start drinking before I'm 21, I'm sure I will even, but I want to start somewhere I feel safe."
